Cruise Book Published - Bay Area Author

Hi

I am a local author in San Francisco spreading word about my new book about my life working on a cruise ship. Permanent Passenger: My Life on a Cruise Ship chronicles my wacky job search to get my dream job as Assistant Cruise Director and takes you behind the scenes on a cruise ship.

Witnessing rescues at sea, stowaways, fatalities, and passionate romances are just some of the day to day events revealed in this intriguing and humorous account.

Go to www.permanentpassenger.com to see more about the book.

Available in Bay Area bookstores including Stacey's, Books Inc at Opera Plaza, Get Lost Travel Bookstore, Book Passage and online.

Truly a very funny insightful book that will make you laugh – cry – and throw up just a bit.

Cheers
Micha Berman

Colin Stetson (Arcade Fire, Sinead O'Connor, Tom Waits, etc) THIS Tuesday Night!

Tuesday, May 6, 2008, 8:00pm, $10 to $15 sliding scale
COLIN STETSON
DARREN JOHNSTON
SCOTT AMENDOLA
At the Climate Theater
285 9th Street @ Folsom, San Francisco

COLIN STETSON
He is THE jazz player to watch out for. Colin has a unique sax voice. His work has been featured on the David Letterman Show, in sessions and on tour with Tom Waits, Sinead O'Connor, Burning Spear and Medeski, Martin, and Wood, Anthony Braxton and "TV On The Radio". He is currently touring with the band, ARCADE FIRE, playing clarinet, bass clarinet, french horn, cornet and bass saxophone. Web: http://www.colinstetson.com Some YouTubes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T5SH7JFv2yo With Transmission: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJ1d6-iSq2w

Quote: "Michigan native Colin Stetson is like the Roger Federer of avant-garde instrumental music. While the Swiss tennis player has changed the way we think of tennis, Stetson is redefining the possibilities of woodwind and brass instruments. Equally at home on the flute, French horn, clarinet, and saxophone, Stetson's musical innovations bring to mind the work of Fred Frith, Henry Kaiser and John Zorn. "

Joining Colin will be Darran Johnston and Scott Amendola.

About Scott Amendola (from the NY Times): "The drummer Scott Amendola could fairly be described as a jazz musician with an investment in the imperatives of groove. He seems to come by his eclecticism naturally: when rock, bebop and Afrobeat take turns surfacing in his music, they do so in a way that feels loose and unforced. " Web: http://www.scottamendola.com

About Darren Johnston: "As a performer, Johnston has performed, and/or recorded with such innovative musicians and composers as guitarist Fred Frith, clarinetist Don Byron, bassist Marcus Shelby, bassist Herbie Lewis, the ROVA Saxophone Quartet, clarinetist Ben Goldberg, and others. He was recently listed last June by Downbeat Magazine as one of “25 Trumpeters of the Future.” Web: http://www.darrenjohnstonmusic.com

Come out to beat church this thursday and rock with us we have long awaited guest and friend Mycho Cocoa of the fringe, up on the beat church alter for the first time. Back from his New York stint with a fresh new style and an abe-live set we are excited to have him throw down for the beat church vibe, which always seems to bring out the best in all our guests. Kitty-D and myself will be bustin' out our continuing evolution of musical styles to make the musical journey complete.
Tibet, China, and the Olympic torch.

Since a couple of people on the list have posted there thoughts on this subject I thought I would join them with a different perspective on the matter...

First: I am sympathetic to the Tibetan cause.

Now that I’ve stated that, I’d like to point out that the Olympics, with their 1000 year ancient history served as a place for humanity to celebrate the best of it’s own nature. The original games were a testament to the perfection of the human form as created by the Greek gods. Wars were stopped in honor of the Olympiad. Today the games are a world wide event where every nation puts forward their best and strongest. It serves as a competition and showcase of the fitness of the human form, and also an opportunity for good will between ALL people on this planet.

Sponsored, or not, paid or not, commercialized, or not, by the media corporations the event is a tradition in which we put aside our differences for a few weeks and come together as human beings.

As a liberal I’m saddened by the protests in Paris and London where it is obvious the protesters have lost sight of what their goals are. The desire to violently protest the actions of China in Tibet over shadows the need to participate and celebrate in the ONE event our planet has that brings EVERY nation together in good will, friendship, and healthy sportsmanship.

The matters of China and Tibet are serious, too serious for the petty display of anger around an event that has nothing to do with Tibet, and everything to do with world peace. It was with that in mind that I ask those of you who do participate tomorrow to refrain from disturbing those who carry the torch for this unique and wonderful tradition that places all of humanity on the same stage. That torch is not the Chinese torch, it is the Olympic torch and should be treated with the same respect that the ideals of the original founders of the Olympics had when the games first came into existence.
------
From Wikipedia:

The Olympic Flame is lit in Olympia and brought to the host city by runners carrying the torch in relay. There it plays an important role in the opening ceremonies. Though the torch fire has been around since 1928, the relay was introduced in 1936. On April 7, 2008, for the first time in history, the Olympic Flame was extinguished in Paris, due to protests against the host nation - China.[40]

It is a 2 hour commitment as I will be working independently under the supervision of a senior stylist. The cost is $20, normally our haircuts are 70-100$. We can do anything you want, however I'd like to stay creative as much as possible and I don't do razor cuts.

I want to create a house-hold of like-minded and like-hearted beings who hold conscious living, eating and communicating as sacred acts. I am looking for roommates who meditate/yoga, prefer chill over sports 24/7, lots of plants, non-violent communication -- basically -- creating a peaceful and creative oasis in the heart of the Mission. Most importantly, I am interested in roommates who value mindful self- reflection and clear communication, honesty, warmth/kindness, taking responsibility, cleanliness and for their home to be a sanctuary.

ABOUT THE APARTMENT : This place is AWESOME -- I am so happy/grateful to have it. This large and spacious apartment with one of the best views in the city is located on Sacramento Street between Gough and Octavia - literally 4 steps from the 1 bus. The Living Room is a nice size and full furnished. The kitchen is brand new for this building! remodeled. The apartment is on the eigth floor which gets unobstructed north, south and western sun. 1 good sized shared bathroom with a large shower. Your bedroom has a large closet with floor to ceiling sliding doors and even a little closet near the entrance. Plus a built in desk. Great place!

ABOUT ME: I am a 25 year old male artist. I would say my energy is fluid and compassionate. I tend to ride between the creative and the spiritual often integrating the two. I have two amazing well behaved dogs that are real lovers.

BEAT CHURCH THIS THUR. 3/20 W/ DJ DRAGONFLY!

Please come join us this Thursday for a musical treat as we finally welcome to church DJ Dragonfly, a longtime strong staple to the bay area underground dance scene. "As a global traveler who's traversed some six continents and 37 countries, DJ Dragonfly is one of the Bay Area's most sought after purveyors of cutting edge world music. West Coast dance freaks place him in the top ranks of DJ polls for his unique sound: A fusion of funky breaks to a globally influenced smackdown of idioms, rhythms and melodies – bumped up by live electronic percussion. Using bass as the navigator, he sets his decks on a course that weave their way through a wide range of tempos. From Gibraltar to the Ganges, no continent goes unturned in his search for the perfect groove."
He has been holding down his monthly epic dance event "the groove garden" in Marin for close to a decade now as well as heading up and organizing the electronic music portion of earth dance every year. In between he manages to consistently play stellar sets throughout the bay within the world/global electronic music scene and beyond. This guy is a natural for the beat church vibe, and we are psyched to finally have him come bless the crowd!...complete with his live percussion infusions. Kitty D & myself will be in full effect filling in the spaces with the freshest audio delights! Don't miss what is sure to be another epic beat church event, full of good vibes, good beats and good peeps! C U @ church!

REN THE VINYL ARCHAEOLOGIST (True Skool)
90's Dance Set

San Francisco stalwart, (by way of NYC) Ren The Vinyl Archaeologist, has been holding it down for SF hip-hop culture since 2000. A great proponent of the four elements of hip hop, Ren in conjunction with his magazine/newsletter Trueskool, promotes events related to b-boying, emceeing, dj'ing, and the written word graffiti. Ren's persistence and dedication has earned him spots alongside greats such as: Grandmaster Flash, Afrika Bambaataa, Q-Bert, KRS-One, and Cut Chemist.

In terms of abilites, they don't call him The Vinyl Archaeologist for nothing! Ren is notorious for digging deep in the crates for uncanny surprises. Expect to hear some 90's dance tunes in the vein of: C+C, Technotronic, as well as some 80's heat such as: New Order, Man Parrish, Newcleus, Information Society, Rob Base + EZ Rock all mixed with his inimitable hip-hop flair.

Call for art/music in San Francisco: Themed Collage/Sample/Culture Jams

Bunnies, bunnies, bunnies, bunnies.

Ok, I had to get that out there.

I am part of a collective that has been producing a community based culture jam event in San Francisco on Easter Eve.

And yes, we're a theme party with the theme of bunnies. And we're one of those theme parties that takes our theme and shoves it so far down people's throats, they're pooping our theme out for weeks.

It's all about bunnies, easter, spring, and all the sugar coated cultural references that go along with it (this year, St. Patricks day is the same weekend as Easter, so we've added that as or sub-theme).

In keeping with our theme, we are seeking out new and original content.

Audio: Performance and music based artists that explore culture jamming. (And while we do love normal dj dance music like house and trance, it's not really what we're going for. We'd much rather have people say "wft????" than "aw, that's some funky beats I can dance too". Although, if you can combine it into "wtf??? This music is so weird, but yet, I can not stop dancing!", then you score an A+)

Visual: We are lacking on floor space this year. Our venue does not have any big open areas, but instead has lots of little nooks and crannies (we're more of a warren/cave like space than a big warehouse space). A big installation that would take up a 20' x 20' space, not gonna work. The type of thing that would work at the end of a hallway, and becomes a hidden discovery that people will remember for years to come, that will work. Interactive, performance, wall hanging art with a bunny theme, we love you!

If you think you might be the type of artist who creates content that would fit our vision, please email me (sfaarong26@yahoo.com) so we can talk further, or send me a message here on tribe.

Looking for Artists and Models for Life Drawing Space in SF

What: Life Drawing
Where: SF's SOMA District, (1 block away from Yerba Buena Gardens 4 block from Powell BART)
When: TBD
Cost: TBD

Artists, Models, and Other Creatively-Wired Individuals,

We are putting together a group of people interested in honing their life drawing and/or modeling skills.

ARTISTS:
As there will be no official teacher for the class this is meant for people who are comfortable being self-directed artists. However, if you wish, people of varying skill levels and experience can help and guide each other.

MODELS:
We value diversity so all types of models are encouraged to join regardless of sex, gender, ethnicity, body type. Ideally we would have a good mix of different kinds of models as well as artists

What we offer is a modern and clean studio (with a bathroom) in safe part of SF 4 blocks away from Powell BART

As of today we have these time slots available:
Mondays: 1:00 PM-3:00 PM
Tuesdays: 8:30 AM-12:00 PM, 1:00 PM-3:00 PM
Wednesdays: 1:00 PM-4:00 PM
Fridays: 7:30 PM-9:30 PM
Saturdays: 3:30 PM-9:30 PM
Sundays: 11:00 AM-8:00 PM

Ideally we would like to have a sizable group or groups that meet regularly so that we can make it worthwhile for everyone involved.

If you are interested please let me know:
1. If you are a model, artist, or both
2. You schedule preferences

If you know other people that might be interested please pass this along to them. If you have any further questions please contact me at my email or tribe.

Thank You,
My kinda fun - pain!

I'm a masochist and enjoy receiving lengthy, unusual pain, in many places, administered by couples. I sometimes play with a female domme couple, visiting chicago, who enjoy staking me , on my back and slowly inserting many thin gauge needles about 1 1/4 from each nipple forming a circle around each nipple. Then; 1 lady or her friend begin to pin prick the cock and balls lightly while the other lady(s) begin to heat the inserted pins, 1 at a time, with soft flame(matches) alternating, back and forth, from the left circle to the right circle. The pin pricking ladies then begin to slowly drag cigs across the bottom of my feet. I scream for hrs over this type of slow lengthy pain. I luv slow heat play!
Does any one have any ideas to inflicting this type of slow, lengthy pain?

Aberrant behavior-auditions saturday the 19th 2263 mission (between 18th & 19th) 3:30-6:30 (Also looking for crew)

'm making a film, that will be somewhat explicit in parts. Also, there will be imagery that needs nudity.
I am afraid that I will not be able to cut the content of the movie script, even if I find actors interested .You can e-mail me with rates, photos, questions, etc. If your an actor or actress who has worked in nudity and/or sexual situations, is comfortable with it, and would like to take on a feature narrative film as a major role please e-mail me or show up to the auditions. The two main roles are the ones that require it but there are others. If you would like to be featured in sequences that do not involve the main characters, but are part of dreamlike imagery (that features nudity/partial nudity)you can either show up to the audition, or e-mail me with link to your work. Best place to e-mail:
theperiodmovie@yahoo.com

Here is the plot:
Aberrant Behavior, is basically about two self destructive anarchistic-y street kids who have an exaggerated form of pica, a disorder where people feel compelled to eat non-food materials, carpet, dirt, soap, drano, various chemicals, etc. as portrayed as a drug addiction. Who are in a very self destructive relationship, there perfect for each-other except they literally kill each-other by being together. A lot of psycho-sexual/self mutilation-masochism in this one. There's more to it, but that's the basic synopsis.

Keep in mind the budget of this movie will probably stay around 25-35, 000 dollars (already secured), so just warning I can't pay the highest rates

Thanks-
Jason

Here is the original posting:

I have a new movie called "Aberrant Behavior" auditioning Sat. 1/19 3:30-6:3- at the Dark Room SF 2263 Mission off of 19th and Mission@ 3:30 - 6:30. (My first movie "the period" came out through Sub Rosa Cinema can be seen/bought at Netflix www.myspace.com/theperiodmovie as well as various other outlets)
Aberrant Behavior, is basically about two self destructive anarchistic-y street kids who have an exaggerated form of pica, a disorder where people feel compelled to eat non-food materials, carpet, dirt, soap, drano, various chemicals, etc. as portrayed as a drug addiction. There's more to it, but that's the basic synopsis. If you can't make it to the auditions, you can send me a head shot with resume, or whatever you want. We can then decide when and where to meet.

I will be hiring for many roles, all ages (over 18) races, sizes, etc. But here are the main characters:
Main Characters:
Victor Muertos: (Mid to late twenties) Half Mexican/Half white (Half latino/half white will probably work). Black hair, down to chin and five o clock shadow. (Flexible though). Tall and thin but not too thin.
Dark, brooding, depressed, prone to long winded sarcastic, cynical rants. Living off the state for mental depression, and addiction, but eventually breaks himself from the state. He hates the state, and normal life in general. He hates almost everything. He is sort of sloppy hipster, slightly emo, slight slight slight goth meets street kid. Light or no body mod, piercings, etc. He eventually lives on the street because of choice. He falls in love with Aiko.

Aiko Zumbi (18-early twenties or look like it) Half Japanese/Half German (or Japanese, or half Japanese/Half white). Shorter than Victor, thin but still slightly curvy.
Street kid with a bit of dark hippie. Has been sexually abused as a child. Prone to violence. Prone to long winded rants, or sometimes just total silence. Dark, cynical, with a very bleak view of life. Body mods, tattoo's, piercings, fine. Dreaded or colored hair fine as well. Actually preffered.
She falls in love with Victor.

Emma May (20's to 30's) Actress must be thin, because character is anorexic. Very fake, superficial, manic laughing. Very self deluded. She doesn't really see her anorexia as a problem, she think she looks great though she's obviously dieing and goes to extremes to keep herself thin. She is always dressed up elegantly and thinks of herself as a proper lady even when doing something grotesque . She is a head executive at a advertising/pr firm that she gets a Victor a brief job at, through meeting him in a class over there mutual addictions. (Brief Nudity /Partial a few times)

Caseworker Joe (30's-40's) Written has hispanic, but open. Larger guy, tall, built like a shed, a bit fat but not flabby fat. Very coarse, to the point, direct "Take no shit" kind of guy. Very normal, buys into the whole big house in the suburbs, good job, etc. He is Victor's Caseworker, and is tired of Victor's Shit, and believes he is not trying to quit. (None)

Glitters- a gay gangster rapper, take everything that's a cliche and horrible about it and flip it so that it's gay (some, will also need male models)

Pedida Muertos-Victors Mother. A nearly catatonic morally apprehensive drug addict who's always sleeping with random guys and ignoring her child (Some nudity/sexual situations can be negotiated to less)

And then random visuals, nudes for some flashback scenes (of some sort of psuedo porn the main characer shot) a girl that Victor sleeps with before he falls in love with Zumbi (requires brief nudity/sexuality) and some body part imagery that will not feature the face of the actor/actress, among other thing

I need before I even start:
Prostethetics/Makeup- There are many parts of my movie that need gore, ghoulish makeup or creating body casts for dreamlike effect (like a scene where they fall onto the ground and break like porcelain blood-paint spraying out of them creating a heart) but most importantly I need someone who can help make someone look anorexic, eye sockets reccessed , hips sticking out, ribs sticking out, shoulder blades, etc. I can't start without this because it's one of the main characters.

Boom-I have someone lined up for operating boom/mixing sound, but I'm not sure he'll always be available. I need someone who has at least some experience in this to help. I have equipment but having (better?) equipment would be great.

Props- It would be great to have someone who can assist in creating edible (or non toxic) chemicals, substances, materials for the main characters to ingest. It would also free me up to think about other things.

Lighting/ Art Department/ Set Design/Decoration/Locations- I need someone who can do a lot without a lot who can work with unusual materials. Who isn't too expensive or I won't be able to afford you. Also may be able to transform other locations into desired location.Things needed for instance underground bomb shelter turned into run down sorta apartment. Abandoned buildings. Offices. Fashion Show. A sewer, where the characters live in and eat off of trash.

Original posting:

Set Decorators/Builders:
Though the majority of the movie will be in real locations. There will be a few sets built, and sets that will be decorated to fit the movie. I am looking for people who have experience building sets (theater experience would be great) on a low budget. Resourcefullness in materials is needed (Meaning you can do a lot with not a lot). Building flats, painting, decorating.

Prosthetics/ Make-Up: Though this is not a gore horror movie. There is quite a few instances of gore. People who have experience in mold making, prostethics, sculpture. etc. would be very helpfull. Also people good at making people looking sickly or malnourished through make-up needed. In addition Emma May, the severe anorexic will need added pieces to protrude her brows and jaw, her ribs, collar bones, hip bones, etc to make herself appear much thinner. Actually a lot of make up needs from simple to complex through out the movie.

Vfx-Compositors- Though this will not be a special effects epic, there will be things needed. Good flashy two animations/composting for some of the fake commercials/promos. Possible fire and underwater animation. Some manipulation of the video -color fluctuations, shrinking an enlarging, simple morph effects, color globules to represent visual aberrations in the characters eye-sight. Some 3-D needed especailly those who are good working with modeling human figures. But mostly more simple 2-D basic 3-D stuff. I may do this myself, but send me a link to your work, and I might hire you for the movie.

Props: I will be doing much of this myself, but may need help in re-creating chemicals, materials, such as drano, soap, dirt, carpet, many other instances through-out the script, to create realistic looking edible (or at least non toxic ) substitutes for the substances they swallow.

Mechanical/Puppetry- Not needed for a lot of the movie. But there is a few scenes with Emma Mays giant snake like tape worm that slithers around. Also a scene where skull bowls start vomiting (have to read script to explain) Could do myself, just seeing if anyone else might be interested.

Lighting Designer: Though I will likely take over this role myself, and a lot of the footage will be shoot in the streets style. There will be a few locations that will be staying in for a long while in the script, and would like good, stylized lighting for maximum creepy effectiveness.

Costume: I already have a few people on board for this, but as this movie ends in a big Valentines Day Fashion Show. I am looking for people who could be commisioned for clothing for that event (and other sequences in the movie as well). Also, previously made pieces could work.

Underwater Camera- Anyone who would like to rent me an underwater camera, or who has experience filming underwater, this is needed for a few sequences.

Boom Mic/ Sound Mixer- I already have someone onboard for this, but never hurts to have a second position, or a backup

Pyro/ Fire Safety/Explosion - This really isn't needed for a lot of the movie. But there is one scenes where a whole room catches on fire (with possible stuntman that catches on fire, I made do this in special effects). There is another scenes where a home-made bomb blows a crack into a wall and makes it crumble. I want these scenes to come off effective and safe.

Security- Not throughout the whole movie, but there will be scenes where I will be filming in potentially dangerous locations, and a climax that will need crowd control

Legal/ Locations- I will probably do this myself, but if anyone has experience in finding or knowing of great locations, or securing permits for locations. I might be interested in working with you.

Production Assistants/Co-Ordinaters (I am sure you know what this means)

Music- I have most of the music worked out. But a band fell out that I really felt I needed for some sequences. If your music is post -rocky, slow core or has that aphex twin meets godspeed you black emperor I may be interested. The kind of bands I'm looking for: Mew, Godspeed you black emperor, Explosions in the sky, Spiritualized, 65 days of static, Sigur Ros. Also in some music Portis-Heady could work.

Thanks
-Jason

This is a tribe for the mass transit lovers and haters of our city. A community for those who frequent Muni, BART, Caltrain, and other Bay Area public transportation. We are the supporters of SF Muni/SFMTA. We ride cable cars, even in the rain, well, mostly because they stop for locals usually. We ride buses to work, packed like sardines. We can tell you which bus lines to avoid if you need to steer clear of the mix of beer and urine smells. You’ll find our Muni rants on Craigslist, our heads wrapped around a project like Go Geary BRT or Fix Masonic and our hearts devoted to San Francisco.

BEAT CHURCH THIS THUR 1/17 WITH KNOW ONE & MIMOSA

Please join us this Thursday for church as we welcome a couple of long awaited special guests. Know One (Noah) has been rockin' it for ages with original tracks and eclectic selections that completely align with beat churches continuing exploration into sound alchemy. Always pushing the limits of new sound explorations we are glad to finally have him in the congregation. You are all also in for a very special treat with Mimosa. Many of you may have not heard of this sound master, if not you are in for a delectable eargasm, this guy is definitely one of the hidden gems of the bay area. Busting out all original material in the low/mid tempo phat squishy bass audio spectrum that will appease the mind, body and soul. As always kitty-d and myself will be filling out the aural spectrum for the complete beat church experience you know in love. This night promises to be one of our better ones, so if you haven't made it out in a while or are on the fence this would be a good night to make it out. Always thanks for your continued support of the cutting edge underground music scene and keepin the "church" alive!

Healing - Creative Arts Space for Rent - East Bay

Dear friends and family:

Beautiful spaces now available for rent in Piedmont - Oakland for all modalities of the healing and creative arts at Terra's Temple!

We are currently looking to fill several spaces with exciting events, workshops, regular classes etc. at our brand new healing arts space in the East Bay.

We are especially interested in hosting:

Yoga Instructors
Pilates Instructors
Healing Arts Workshops
Green Workshops
Creative Arts
Massage Therapists
Therapeutic themed events
Rituals & Rights of Passage

The center is creating a fantastic network of many modalities and we are interested in what you have to contribute!

Terra's Temple

The Temple will be a sacred space and a nexus for community committed to celebration and honoring of the Earth Mother in all her forms. People can come to the temple to rejuvenate, heal and recharge. A place for both those in need to receive and where even healers can be healed.

The Temple’s main room will be a place to honor rites of passage, hold seasonal rituals, to pray and spend time in devotion. We will host classes and workshops on movement, arts and crafts, sustainability, healing and much much more. We have rooms for healers to work from, so people can come to get healing, bodywork, and other therapeutic modalities. We will also host community gatherings, celebrations, and events of all types.

Thanks!!! - Natasha

Please Contact Sefora if interested at: 831-239-7871 or brrrightray@yahoo.com

Dovid Krafchow author Kabbalistic Tarot

A Tarot card reading by Dovid Krafchow is a unique opportunity to enter the spiritual realm of the Cabala and experience the divine self—the soul.

The soul communicates with the body through the random drawing of the cards. The message of the soul is always an affirmation of life. The language of the soul, the language of the Tarot and the language of the Cabala are the same.

The essential nature of the Cabala prohibits one from selling their service, rather receiving with humility and gratitude what is offered at the conclusion of the reading. A Tarot card reading takes approximately twenty minutes.

For more in depth private readings, group occasions or to make an appointment to be read at Enrico’s Restaurant in North Beach, San Francisco in the enclosed terrace beneath soft warming lights call 415-398-3040 or email dovidkrafchow@gmail.com. Or see www.JewishBohemian.com

A New Year's Resolution? Free Yoga Classes

Question: Ready for that "New Year's Resolution?"
Answer: ? (Didn't think so).

Well thanks to the "Grotto" at Sports Basement - you have a "free" chance to improve your well being ... ..

)n 01 December 2007, Sports Basement joined together with local yoga teachers to give a yoga gift to the community.
Next yoga class:

• Sunday, 30 December 2007 - 10:30 - 12:00 noon. -
• Yoga Flow - with Annie Leguennec
• http://www.sfgoju.com/

• Sports Basement --San Francisco
• 1590 Bryant St.
San Francisco, CA
(415) 575-3000
http://sportsbasement.com

And due to the very high turnout of yoga students, speed walkers, coach potatoes, Fat Tire Beer Specialist, snowboarders, and then some . . . Starting January 2008, Sports Basement will host free yoga classes each & every Sunday from 1:00 - 2:30pm.

Yoga Teachers of various styles (Iyengar Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga, Vinyasa, Raja Yoga, Kundalini, Anasara Yoga, Yin Yoga, Power Yoga, Anna Forrest Yoga, etc.) will present their unique connection with the yogic path.

Check back each month and see who’s in the mix – free yoga classes by yoga teachers of all walks of life. Official Website: http://ynottony.com/yoga1.htm

And, if you are a yoga teacher (or a soon to graduate yoga teacher) looking to share your knowledge, practice karma yoga (community service), and put yourself in the public eye, come join in & volunteer your services making yoga affordable for every individual. Pick one Sunday per month . . Teach as many months as you would enjoy doing. . . .

Yoga teachers will receive a $25.00 gift certificate from Sports Basement (per yoga class) & can use the platform as a way of promoting themselves and their unique yoga experience.

Regardless, it's a grand opportunity to start the year on the right path, meet some like minded individuals, see life in a different light, & calm the mind.

* Yoga teachers of all schools of yoga are invited to teach.
* Yoga students of all levels are invited to attend.

For more information or to get your name on the yoga teacher's list - contact: Iyengar Yoga Teacher, tony at:: http://ynottony.com/contact.php

1. Send a brief Yoga Bio
2. Send a list of your available Sundays in January, February & March - 2008.
3. Send a link to your website, personal profile (Myspace, Zaadz, Tribe, Yelp review, etc) or something which speaks highly of you
4. Start advertising your yoga class

Wishing the best of all possible worlds,
tony

Hey everyone,

The Marsh is a non-profit theater located in San Francisco on Valencia st. We are small and are working towards beginning a network online to help bring in new talent and new patrons. We've been around for 18 years and are a breeding ground for new performance. Focusing on solo performance, but also branching out to others, we pride ourselves on being a place for performers to come and have an opportunity to display their work in front of audiences.

So we would like to grow our network! If you would like to learn more about The Marsh please visit www.themarsh.org. And if you like what we're doing, add us as your friend and help us get ourselves out there a bit more. Your help and support is greatly appreciate as we all raise the awareness and appreciation of the arts!

Thanks!

Berkeley Teach-in Against America's Wars

America's Current and Impending Wars: From Campus to the Middle East

Thursday, December 6, 2007 at 7 PM
155 Dwinelle Hall, UC Berkeley Campus

Shahram Aghamir, KPFA, Co-Producer of "Voices of the Middle East and North Africa"
Wendy Brown, Professor of Political Science, University of California, Berkeley
Samera Esmeir, Professor of Rhetoric, University of California, Berkeley
Dahr Jamail, Independent Reporter and Author of "Beyond the Green Zone: Dispatches from an Unembedded Journalist in Occupied Iraq"

The teach-in focuses on the continuing occupations of Iraq and Palestine, on the threats of American wars against Syria and Iran, and on the intimidation crusades of lobbies and pressure groups against members of the academic community who have voiced criticism. We think these issues are linked and need to be publicly debated. Our teach-in features four experts who will provide informed and critical perspectives.

Organized by a UC Berkeley Faculty and Students Collective: Berkeley Teach-In Against America’s Wars http://www.btiaw.org. For the list of co-sponsors and for more information, visit our website, email us at info@btiaw.org or visit our facebook site: http://berkeley.facebook.com/event.php?eid=7153556003. Developed by the student movements of the 1960s and the opposition to the Vietnam war, teach-ins are forums for controversial discussions and have a proud history in the civil rights and anti-war movements.

This event is free, open to the public, and wheelchair accessible.

The Society of Janus, a well respected pansexual kink organization here in San Francisco is reaching out to the community at large for this upcoming panel discussion, moderated by one of our own. Please take a moment to consider this event:

Janus Presents: "Ask the bottom", an evening of Q&A with a cross- selection of local personalities on the bottom/submissive/slave/boy/girl/ property side of the SM Power continuum.

Tuesday, November 13
SF Citadel
8:00pm - 10:00pm (Doors open at 7:00pm)
$5 for Janus Members, $15 for non-members (you do not
need to be a member to attend)

What motivates a person to walk the path of slavery? What does a submissive want? What joys do those on the bottoming end of the equation receive from their relationships - and what frustrations? What are the differences that distinguish bottom, slave, boy/girl, submissive, proeprty, and how on earth do we come to those definitions?

Ever wanted to ask questions like these, or others? Then this is an opportunity to pick the brains of an awesome and distinguished line-
up of local SM community teachers, players, mentors and activists.

We have a terrifically diverse panel for you: jody / patrick / boyjean / mercedes / andrea / slavebill have all agreed to answer your questions and share their thoughts and motivations on why they do what they do. bethie Hope O will facilitate the questions and keep the discussion moving smoothly.

This will be a moderated discussion panel, with the opportunity to submit written inquiries anonymously as well as ask your questions
directly. Please join us for this rare opportunity to delve into the mind of these mysterious and intelligent people. You may also send
questions about the event or questions to be discussed at the event to programs at soj dot org

Bethie Hope O identifies as a service-oriented slave and adult little girl. She is very blessed to be a ollared slave to her Daddy for the past 2 years. Bethie believes in creating open, supportive communities and is active in both the BDSM and age play communities. She is honored to be an officer in the Society of Janus and she is the creator and moderator of Submissive Safe Space; a monthly discussion group comprised of like minded submissives and slaves. On-line Bethie moderates discussion groups for age play, submission and survivors of abuse and trauma. She lives in the East Bay area with her Daddy, four dogs, 2 turtles and an obscene quantity of stuffed animals. Her favorite crayon is cornflower blue, unsharpened.

slavebill has been an active member of the Leather Community for almost 20 years and is in his 12th year of service to his Master. he is a co-founder of the San Francisco chapter of the Defenders, has served on the Steering Committee of the Leathermen's Discussion Group and has participated in many workshops including Leather Levi Weekend, the San Francisco boys of Leather, and the Society of Janus. he was a co-sponsor of the Leather Traditions' Service Weekend held last May. In addition to being a 24x7 non-live-in slave, he has a non-leather partner of 25+ years who is understanding and accepting of bill's calling to service as a slave.

Steve Ward has been a member of the Bay Area Leather / kink community for 10 years. He joined the San Francisco boys of Leather in 2002, and was mentored by many of the more prominent Bay Area Dominants and submissives. Steve serves the 15 Association, as member of the Fraternal Committee and Membership Coordinator. He is also President of the Defenders San Francisco, is a steering committee member of the Leathermen’s Discussion Group, and a representative to the San Francisco Leather Forum. Steve has been involved with Leather-Levi Week-end from 2003 through 2006, on the Spirituality Committee, and organized their annual Cocktail Party to welcome newcomers to the community. In his spare time, Steve is a committee member of the upcoming Leather Leadership Conference 12, to be held in 2008 in San Francisco, and is on a newly-formed Bay Area ad hoc committee of the National Coalition for Sexual Freedom.
Steve is 55, single…..and always looking for new opportunities.

patrick was a late bloomer to BDSM. Growing up in a Catholic household in a small, rural Southern town, he had no clue that including hot wax, needles and rope to his youthful explorations of his body meant he was masochistic; it just felt good. Fast-forward to Folsom Street Fair 2003, where his heart melted and his cock hardened watching a Daddy flog His boy. Finally, after reading the "Beauty Series" pushed him to the point of no return, he had his first scene and was introduced to his boy-self. Since entering the public scene, he has had the good fortune never to have served a Dominant unworthy of his submission, and twice has proudly worn the collars of exceptional Men. Currently, he is a slave-in-training to Master Patrick Mulcahey, whom he knows loves and treasures him. he believes in the importance of giving back to his community, and when his work schedule and Master allow, enjoys volunteering at leather events.

andrea Arkouda started her lifestyle journey in 2003 in search of a relationship in which trust was valued above all else. For her, service and obedience are the avenues to achieving a deep interpersonal connection, and completion. she served her first
